Sylvia Bastone proudly opened New Beginnings of Kings Park in 2012, after teaching preschool for fifteen years, and serving as a preschool director for four years. Sylvia has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Education from Mercy College. She also has a Masters in Education from Dowling College and holds a certificate in recognition of that, as well as a certificate of appreciation for fifteen years of dedication and commitment to the children and families of Suffolk County, both from the Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc. She feels it is important for her to know each parent and child at her center, and also tries to involve herself with the community as much as possible. “I love working with children,” says Bastone, “I’ve wanted to teach since I was a child myself.” 
    New Beginnings is a daycare and preschool center that cares for infants as young as six weeks old to children of school age, in addition to providing before and after care for school age children, up to age twelve. New Beginnings of Kings Park is open from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM and also offers school-age care during holiday breaks, winter break and spring break.
    New Beginnings is focused on the principles of a Creative Curriculum. They offer a nurturing setting in which children learn through play, art and music with a strong emphasis on readiness skills so their pre-k students are set for Kindergarten.  
    Teachers at New Beginnings talk to the children about healthy eating habits, and physical activity is on the schedule every day, either outside if the weather permits, or in the full-size indoor gymnasium.
    New Beginnings has mounted video cameras as well as a buzz in system for the safety of their children & staff.
