For Mike, owner of Instant Verticals in Farmingdale, success did not begin with a grand plan. It started with a gut feeling and the willingness to take a chance.

“I got into the business somewhat accidentally,” he says. Mike began working in window treatments at just 16 years old. After college, he returned to the industry, quickly taking on major responsibilities at a competing company. But by his early twenties, something did not sit right. “I was running most of the daily operations myself, and I thought, why not take control of my future and do it my way.”

In 1992, that mindset led him to launch Instant Verticals with a partner and a simple, innovative idea. At a time when vertical blinds dominated the market, they created what Mike calls a factory on wheels, bringing the entire process directly to customers’ homes. In many cases, they could measure, make, and install in a single visit, something that set them apart early on.

Today, Instant Verticals serves homeowners across Long Island, from Nassau and Suffolk to Queens. While the products have expanded far beyond vertical blinds, Mike credits the company’s longevity to one core principle. “Just doing the right thing and being fair.”

That philosophy shows up most clearly in the way the company treats its customers. With a showroom and a fully staffed office open six days a week, customers can always reach a real person. “People want to know you are there,” Mike says. That consistency has built lasting relationships, with many families returning years later, often bringing the next generation with them.

As a Hunter Douglas gallery dealer, Instant Verticals offers a wide range of high-quality window treatments, along with services like repairs and ultrasonic cleaning to help extend their lifespan. “It is an investment,” Mike explains, “If you take care of them properly, they will last for years to come.”

With so many styles available today, Mike and his team take a personalized approach, looking at each room individually. Whether in the showroom or during an in-home consultation, the goal is always to find the right fit for the space, style, and budget. Just as important, he believes in being honest with customers. “I do not want them to have to pay for something twice,” he says.

For Mike, the most rewarding part of the business is simple. “Seeing customers come back, even their kids, that is what makes it worth it.”

Looking ahead, Instant Verticals is exploring new technology, including design tools powered by artificial intelligence, while staying true to what has always worked. “We are not looking to get bigger,” Mike says. “We just want to keep doing things the right way.” After more than three decades, that approach continues to speak for itself.
