This Memorial Day plan a “grill and chill” meal to celebrate a long ensured weekend and the makings of great new memories. America’s beloved hot dog in a bun~ just got a whole new look! Grill it, hot dog bun it and dress it up~ no oven required. I bet your outdoor area is lusciously green and in full bloom by now… hopefully so is the grill~ shined and squeaky clean~ ready for the summer lifestyle ahead. Easy to make and so delicious, I’m sure it’ll be a double dog day! You can also prepare, wrap while warm in heavy duty aluminum foil, stuff into an insulated lunch pack and head to the beach!  Remember this is the first of three summer weekends we get to extend our TGIF and enjoy the warm weather, friends, family and the privilege to relax! Start things off with a hot bang! Hot sausage grilled on a hot dog roll with caramelized onions, fresh chilled tomatoes and fresh basil combine together for a “wow” bite of Happy Holiday Weekend! Make it a day to remember and give thoughts and thanks to all those brave men and women that died in combat and to those that still serve~ facing danger to keep us safe. As we mark the beginning of our 2017 Summer~ let’s celebrate, reflect and remember!

8 Italian hot sausages grilled (if preferred~ use sweet)
8 Top split hot dog buns
2 Large Vidalia onions sliced thin and sautéed in ½ cup extra virgin olive oil until soft and golden
2~3 vine ripe fresh tomatoes sliced thin
Fresh whole basil leaves for topping
