| Each new season rings in fresh and exciting trends to align with the climate and evolution of fashion that year. Shoes are essential; they tie the entire outfit together. This spring, shoes are keeping with the craze of fun and flirty, making every outfit lively and playful. Sporty, stylish, or simple, slides have become an essential for this season. Athletic slides have a rubber crisscross on top with a bold color and, often, an eye-catching buzz word. Many come in solid colors with a faux fur stripe over the top, making for a cute, and simultaneously comfortable stride. Several name brands – from luxury to modest – have jumped on the bandwagon, with major designers like Gucci producing iconic slides that bear their name. Both men and women are clamoring for a logoed slide, a look that is both stylish and comfortable for spring. Wear yours with socks, or otherwise bare-footed, making them a proper sandal/flip-flop merge. The next trend has an interesting name for an even more interesting look; dad sneakers. White running shoes, traditionally thought of as a fashion faux pas, are being hailed for an ironic level of trendiness to any outfit. Chunky white joggers are being paired with shorts, t-shirts, and even dresses to add a level of relaxation and untouchable coolness to any ensemble. Men are also enjoying this simple staple, wearing them enmasse. The plain color provides a break from the exhausting electric palate that has taken over men’s’ shoes over the past few years. Should one be looking for a snazzier footwear, futuristic sneakers are the perfect alternative to the dad sneaker. In greys mixed with black or white, and always topped off with glitter and shine, these sneakers amp up any clothing combination. A true parallel to the aforementioned sneaker, this style brings excitement rather than calm, and offers an extra dose of stylish cool. Again, men are indulging in this popular craze. These shoes offer an exciting factor to any man’s outfit. Another popular wave this season is footwear with PVC, or plastic, detailing. Either on the heel or a top wrap, PVC has become quite popular. You’ll find clear heels accented with an array of details, from flowers trapped inside to a crystalized appearance. Straps are often clear without any additional detailing. Formerly associated with ‘trashy’ outfits, PVC shoes now add a level of style to any and every outfit. Kitten heels, another craze, are a classic, chic extra for any outfit. For those who struggle with heels, the shorter height provides an easier transition; for the tall wearer, kitten heels do not add what often seems like an extra foot. Kitten heels are sweet and add an element of class to any dress, skirt, or pant. Other trends to look for are espadrilles, ankle booties (in lighter than winter fabrics), and open shoes that lace up the leg (both sandals and heels). Look for lots of soft pastels, bright whites and stunning metallics. There are many styles from which to choose this spring. Whatever you choose, make sure you enjoy them and wear them with pride. |
