For more than 35 years, Stephen Mazelis, owner and president of Mazelis Landscape Contracting Corp., has built his company around a straightforward philosophy: provide exceptional service, do what you say you are going to do, and treat every property as if it were your own.
Based in St. James, N.Y., Mazelis Landscape Contracting has grown into a full-service landscape company serving residential and commercial clients throughout the region. The company provides comprehensive landscape maintenance, design and installation, masonry, irrigation, plantings, tree services, property enhancements, and commercial snow and ice management.
Stephen’s background in horticulture, combined with decades of hands-on experience, has allowed him to develop a company that goes far beyond simply maintaining landscapes. His focus is on professionalism, communication, attention to detail, and building long-term relationships with clients. From creating beautiful residential properties to managing demanding commercial sites and large sprawling HOAs, Stephen believes clients should have confidence that their property is being cared for by experienced professionals and not just landscape laborers.
That same philosophy extends to his team. Stephen has worked to build a team and company culture centered around education, accountability, efficiency, safety, and pride in workmanship.
He believes that a successful landscape company is ultimately built by good people who care about the quality of the work they leave behind.
After more than three decades in the industry, Stephen remains actively involved in the day-to-day operation and continued growth of the business. He also enjoys sharing his experience and knowledge with others in the landscape industry and the communities he serves.
For Stephen, success has never been measured solely by the size of the company. It is measured by reputation, relationships, quality workmanship, and creating a business that clients and employees can depend on year after year.
