| Anyone driving down Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale has watched the evolution of our beloved Nassau Coliseum. As renovation occurred a 416,000-square foot upgraded and modernized venue emerged. Its sleek and contemporary new look includes iconic Long Island symbols like beach dunes, decks and boardwalks. The revitalization has Long Islanders everywhere waiting for opening day on April 5th. The new arena boasts redesigned concession stands, double the number of restrooms, ADA seating, charging stations and even party seats. At capacity, the theater will hold 4,500 patrons, concerts holding 14,500 and sporting events ranging between 13,000 and 14,000. A new pedestrian walkway will allow visitors to navigate the arena easily and add to the overall experience. The coliseum will also feature terrazzo flooring and sustainable fixtures throughout. The $130 million renovation project touches each corner of the Coliseum. On Wednesday, April 5th our own Billy Joel will host the opening show with Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders following on April 6th. Other entertainment scheduled include Idina Menzel, Marc Anthony, WWE Monday Night Raw, Monster Jam, Barbara Streisand, Metallica, Bruno Mars and Roger Waters. There truly will be something for everyone! The Nassau Coliseum will also host hundreds of annual events including concerts, family shows, college basketball, hockey, MMA and boxing. Also scheduled are many outdoor festivals that take advantage of the Islands warmer months. The Long Island Nets and Brooklyn Boxing will call the Coliseum their home in 2017. The venue will feature the rich culinary flavors of Long Island through its Long Island Taste program, which incorporates local dishes and ingredients from vendors across the island. Guests will also experience best-in-class customer service as all Coliseum employees will be trained by the Disney Institute. A Long Island All Access Pass will be offered as an annual season ticket membership that will include a VIP entrance and club and tickets in the lower bowl at all events. The 4,152 square-foot VIP club will feature two large bars and custom seating. The event-level lobby will offer a gathering space for fans with expanded food and beverage selections. Whether singing along to Piano Man, cheering on Chris Jericho, getting lost in Nothing Else Matters, eating gourmet Long Island food or having a drink with friends the new and improved Nassau Coliseum is a location that must be experienced.
