WAKE UP WITH THE WAVES
Start your day at Ditch Plains Beach–locals love it, surfers swear by it, and even if you don’t get in the water, it’s a great place to just relax and watch the waves.
Feeling hungry? Head over to John’s Drive-In for a classic, no-frills breakfast. The bacon, egg, and cheese hits the spot every time, and yes–they’ve got amazing ice cream, even in the morning (we won’t judge). Or if you’re feeling a little fancy, check out Bluestone Lane for avocado toast and coffee with a view.
SHOP AROUND
Montauk’s got some seriously cute shops. If you like beachy vibes and boho style, hit up Woods + Grove for clothes, accessories, and stuff you didn’t even know you needed. For something cool and personal, Shipwreck Jewelry Co. has handmade beach-inspired pieces that make perfect souvenirs.
And don’t forget to swing by Montauk Brewing Co.–grab a cold beer or pick up a six-pack to take home. Their gear is pretty awesome too.
EAT, DRINK, REPEAT
Seafood lovers, you’re in the right place. Go big at Duryea’s Lobster Deck–you’ll eat right by the water, and the lobster salad is chef’s kiss. Want something more laid-back? Stop at The Clam Bar or The Lobster Roll (aka LUNCH) on your way into town for that old-school summer shack feel.
At night, grab drinks at The Surf Lodge (the scene is always poppin’) or chill out with live music and a beach sunset at Navy Beach. Either way, you can’t go wrong.
GET OUT AND EXPLORE
Montauk isn’t just about sitting on the beach–though, no judgment if that’s your plan. If you’re up for a little adventure, rent a bike and ride around town, or check out the trails at Shadmoor State Park. The views are unreal, and it’s a great spot for photos.
And don’t forget the Montauk Point Lighthouse. It’s one of the oldest in the country and a total must-see. Plus, you can say you made it to “The End.”
STAY AWHILE
There are tons of great places to stay in Montauk, depending on your vibe. Want something cool and Instagram-worthy? Try Marram Montauk, Hero Beach Club, or Sole East. If you’re more about beach bonfires and camping, Hither Hills State Park has campsites right on the water. Feeling stressed? Treat yourself to a spa day at Gurney’s or book a beach yoga class and let those good vibes sink in.

Montauk isn’t just for the grown-ups–it’s super kid-friendly too. Spend the day at the Montauk Downs State Park pool or let the little ones run wild at the playground at Kirk Park. If you’re up for some learning disguised as fun, head to the Montauk Marine Basin to check out the boats or plan a visit to the Montauk Lighthouse Museum. There’s enough here to keep the whole crew happy and off their phones (for at least a little while).

The Lucore Art Gallery to browse coastal-inspired paintings and sculptures from local artists. You might even catch a pop-up market or a live band playing downtown on the green. Don’t be surprised if you stumble across a drum circle on the beach or a sunset acoustic set–it’s all part of the laid-back magic that makes Montauk more than just another beach town.
