Since the age of 14, Lindsay Ostrander, owner of Salted on the Harbor, had a dream of opening a restaurant of her own. Also, the proprietor of Wine Cellar on Main, she wanted to create something new right here in Northport. As Lindsay explained, “With the Harbor right at our doorstep, creating a special place for people to relax and enjoy delicious, fresh food and drinks seemed extremely exciting for me.” Hence the inspiration for Salted On the Harbor. Executive Chef Anthony Martarana drives the eclectic fare that has made Salted On the Harbor a popular spot amongst Northport residents.

I’ve eaten at thousands of restaurants over my lifetime and one thing I’ve learned to a certainty–if you are going to a place where the locals gather, then you know it’s got to be good. Salted has a warm bistro-style interior with wood floors, cozy tables with high-tops adjacent to the full bar. An intimate setting yet not cramped. The allure during the warmer months is their alfresco dining that allows patrons to view the beautiful harbor and park. Salted on the Harbor delivers a modern twist on Classic American fare with coastal influences–fresh, creative, and flavorful. Cocktails and drinks are crafted with care, leveraging the expertise of a seasoned beverage team and sommelier background for thoughtful pairings.

Appy favorites include Tuna Poke Nachos; crispy wonton chips piled high with fresh tuna poke, bright mango-cucumber salsa, creamy guacamole, tangy pickled jalapeños, and a zesty cucumber wasabi drizzle for a perfect balance of crunch, heat, and freshness. Sinfully addictive. Lawbsta Fries are crazy good. A massive portion makes this app an easy share amongst 2–3 buds. Golden fries piled high with butter-poached lobster, truffled crème, melty cheese curds, crisp scallions, tangy sour cream, and smoky applewood bacon–pure decadent bliss in every bite. For your mains try: Burrata Burger Stack–a juicy short rib–sirloin patty topped with creamy burrata, sweet cipollini onion compote, and peppery arugula, all nestled in toasted ciabatta for a rich, indulgent flavor with a perfect balance of savory and sweet. Shrimp Tempura Tacos; crispy shrimp tempura tucked into soft tortillas with a refreshing miso-sesame ginger slaw, topped with sweet pineapple and a vibrant red onion, paired with mango salsa for a tropical, crunchy, and tangy bite.

Yes, make room for at least one dessert: Flourless Chocolate Cake. After the salty/tangy flavors, I had to go in. A rich, fudgy texture and deep cocoa flavor left each bite with a lingering, bittersweet finish worthy of pure indulgence. The staff at Salted are enthusiastic, friendly, and attentive. In the end, the food must be good, but the service needs to be excellent to get me to come back–and it was. Salted On the Harbor is all about great drinks, good food with an inviting social vibe that makes you feel right at home.
