There is something to be said about the days when Wine and Cheese joints of the 70s and 80s were not just cultural hideaways. They were places when conversation became part of the décor, and where music slowed things down for an intimate social connection.

The Wine Cellar on Main celebrates this era, elevating the experience with a touch of sophistication. Patrons are served from a selection sommelier – chosen wine by the glass & bottle.

Owner Lindsay Ostrander (owner of Salted on the Harbor) wanted to position The Wine Cellar as a wine bar & tapas small-plates lounge, tailored to both casual wine lovers and more serious aficionados. A professional sommelier team will elevate your experience with expert guidance and educational insight. Having a wine expert on site makes me feel comfortable knowing there’s someone who can guide me toward the right wine choices and help me further enjoy my meal.

Aside from their select wines, craft beers, charcuterie/cheese boards, small plates, and pizzas are plentiful. Popular menu stars include MEDITERRANEAN PLATTER: A balanced presentation of smooth, house-made hummus with bright, tangy tzatziki provides a perfect contrast. The halloumi is lightly seared to bring out its natural saltiness and firm texture. Brined olives provide depth and contrast, while the sweet drop peppers add a clean, gentle sweetness. Warm soft pitas pull the dish together that delivers a thoughtfully composed taste of the Mediterranean.

SHORT RIB SLIDERS: Rich and slow-braised beef is tucked under a blanket of fresh brie, with a touch of fig jam adding a subtle sweetness that rounds everything out. All sitting inside a soft pillowy bun. A small bite with a big personality.

Once you’ve gotten your appetite wet, it’s time to go in for their carefully crafted charcuterie boards. You can go with their preset BEST LOVED BOARD or create your own.

What I love most about the boards is that they add a sense of ease and shared enjoyment of a meal that encourages people to slow down, talk, and try different flavor combinations. The board feels like a conversation among flavors. It’s savory and soft, salty, and rich, crisp here, creamy there. A gathering of textures and tastes that seems to say, Sit. Stay. Let’s enjoy this moment.

Live music is part of the vibe: Thursdays through Sundays you’ll find live acoustic or singer/guitar performances. This makes the entire vibe at The Wine Cellar, cozy and cool.

Now that you’ve had a chance to indulge, kickback with a glass and listen to some really cool, relaxing music. Now you are ready to enjoy one of their amazing artisan crafted pies.

If you like heat as much as I do, then try their PROHIBITION: A decadent twist on the classic white pie: creamy burrata melts over a crisp crust, topped with peppery arugula and delicate slices of prosciutto, then finished with a sweet-spicy kiss of Hot Honey. A bold, balanced bite that flirts with sweet, savory, and everything in between.

The Wine Cellar is the perfect venue for milestone birthdays, bridal showers bachelor/bachelorette parties and corporate functions. A wonderful, creative space that sets it apart from the traditional mainstream restaurant.

Absolutely love everything this place stands for, reminiscent of a time when people were a little more present with one another. This is the spirit The Wine Cellar on Main celebrates. Bravo!
