For Dr. Barry Habib, dentistry has never been just a profession. It is a lifelong commitment to helping people regain confidence, comfort, and quality of life. Born in Israel and raised in Brooklyn after moving to the United States at the age of three, Barry built his career through dedication, education, and a deep passion for the hands-on side of dentistry. After completing dental school at the University of Pennsylvania, he pursued specialized training in prosthodontics at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
His path then led him to a fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he worked in maxillofacial prosthetics creating prosthetic solutions for patients who had undergone life-altering cancer surgeries. “It was sometimes difficult to see,” he explains, “but the goal was to help patients feel comfortable going back out into the world.” That experience helped shape the way Barry approaches dentistry today with both technical skill
and compassion.
For nearly two decades, he worked with a large implant center focusing almost exclusively on crown and bridge work and dental implants. During that time, Barry logged thousands of hours in the operating room, often working six days a week and up to thirteen hours a day. The demanding schedule gave him something he values even more than formal training: experience. “You can learn a lot in school,” he says, “but doing the work day after day gives you a different level of understanding.”
Today, Barry practices in several locations including Commack, Brighton Beach, and Rockland County. One of his main priorities is making advanced dental procedures more accessible for patients. “Over time I realized that affordability was a big issue,” he says. “Many people need implants but feel they cannot afford them.
I wanted to find a way to make it work for patients.”
Dental implants, Barry explains, have become one of the most reliable solutions for replacing missing teeth. Beyond restoring the ability to eat comfortably, implants can also have a major impact on confidence, health, and dignity later in life. “I have seen patients struggle for years with dental problems,” he says. “When the problem is finally solved, the gratitude you see on their faces
is incredible.”
Despite advances in technology, Barry believes experience and careful planning remain the keys to successful outcomes. One of the most important lessons he learned during training was to always plan ahead and communicate clearly with patients. “You do not want surprises during treatment,” he says. “Patients deserve to know what to expect.”
Much of Barry’s practice continues to grow through word-of-mouth referrals, which he considers the ultimate compliment. “You have to treat people with respect and do good work,” he says. “Word of mouth works both ways.” After more than twenty years in dentistry, his motivation remains simple. “I love what I do,” he says. “When you enjoy your work and you see the difference it makes in people’s lives, it never really feels like work.” For Barry, that passion continues to guide every patient’s interaction and every smile restored.
