For three decades now, Mannino’s Kitchen and Bar has been more than just a place to eat. It is a gathering place for families, a stage for celebrations, and as a cornerstone of our community. In an industry where trends come and go like passing seasons, reaching a 30-year milestone is more than just an achievement, it signifies a testament to consistency, emotional responsibility with an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Of course, the journey to 30 years hasn’t come without challenges. The restaurant industry is not known for longevity; it tests resilience, demands sacrifice, and rewards only those who refuse to give up. Through economic shifts, changing tastes, and even a global pandemic, Mannino’s persevered. When a business is rooted in family, it does more than survive, it grows stronger. Mannino brothers Joe, John and Frank work side by side, not just as co-owners, but as family in the truest sense: united, loyal, and committed to doing things the right way.

I met the Mannino brothers back in’96. They were just 21, 22 and 23 years of age when they broke ground at their first location on Commack Road. Its design was more of a pizzeria on one side with a fine dining section on the other. Since then, their vision has grown to three locations, that include Smithtown and newly expanded renovation in Oakdale. With the demand of the Mannino brand growing, the boys took a leap of faith. In 2014, they moved to their current Jericho Turnpike location in Commack.

A FAMILY LEGACY
It began like so many great family stories do, with a dream. Three brothers, Joe, John, and Frank were willing to work for it. Just as their father guided them. I remember Joe telling me some time back, “Our father told us if you want to get ahead, you are going to have to work hard to get what you want.” The love for authentic Italian food and tradition that comes from family gatherings around the table was all the inspiration the Mannino brothers needed. The desire and passion with some good old fashion blood, sweat and tears has defined their success.

As Joe exclaims, “If you just put all your energy into how to best serve your customers, treating everyone like family, everything else will fall in place,” a business philosophy that has been the hallmark of their success.

THE MEMORIES
Ask anyone who has walked through the doors of Mannino’s over the past thirty years and you’ll hear a memory. First dates have turned into wedding receptions. Birthday dinners have become yearly traditions and families have gathered to honor life’s milestones. Mannino’s isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a chapter in countless family stories. As Mannino’s celebrates this remarkable accomplishment, the moment is more than a celebration of the past, it’s a tribute to everyone who helped shape the journey. To the longtime staff who have become extended family. To the loyal guests who brought their children, and now their grandchildren. To the community that embraced a small Italian kitchen and helped it become a beloved local tradition. Thirty years is both an accomplishment and a responsibility. It’s a promise to honor the flavors and values that built the foundation, while continuing to evolve, inspire, and serve with heart. Mannino’s Kitchen & Bar has never forgotten where it came from, which is why it remains a place people feel proud to call their own.

 THE FOOD
What makes Mannino’s special isn’t just the menu, it’s in the aroma of garlic simmering in olive oil, in the slow-stirred marinara passed down from generations, in the fresh basil that crowns each dish like a signature. It’s in every plate of chicken parmigiana cooked to perfection and every bowl of pasta that tastes like Sunday at Nonna’s house. You don’t simply eat at Mannino’s, you experience the comfort of old-world Italian flavors crafted with patience, pride, and purpose.

Here are just some of the entrees that remain all-time classics. Pollo Mannino; A fried chicken breast pounded flat with sautéed onions, fresh plum tomato, and morsels of mozzarella in a balsamic vinaigrette. Veal Chop Mannino; a signature dish that you’ll always find on special. Lightly breaded then stuffed with prosciutto and melted mozzarella. Rigatoni alla Vodka; in a spicy cream sauce tossed with fresh rigatoni vodka is addictive. Pasta Amatriciana; as traditional Italian as it gets. Featuring a sauce of sautéed onions, guanciale (cured pork) and crushed plum tomato, poured over fresh pasta then finished with pecorino cheese is an old-world classic. Cowboy Style Ribeye; A 22 oz cut encrusted with herbs has
an intense flavor profile that stands up to any high-end
steakhouse quality.

As we raise our glass to this remarkable anniversary, we honor not only a restaurant, but a story built on tradition, passion, and the Mannino brothers Joe, John and Frank who have made this restaurant a beloved institution.
