This summer might feel a bit different, but we can’t complain too much since at least one of (in my opinion) the most important activities wasn’t taken from us… our Long Island beaches! Even though our socially distant beach days could look somewhat unusual (being capped at 50% capacity, no concession stands, etc.), the few things that haven’t changed are the must-have items for a fabulous day by the beach.
I think most of us can agree that we’ve gained a new perspective on life over the past few months and for me, that includes a stronger appreciation for the outdoors. Being outside allows us to have some sense of normalcy, while still having the ability to remain socially distant.
There are so many fun activities to fill up our days: hiking/camping, participating in water sports, having a picnic, re-discovering drive-in movies, and of course my personal favorite… going to the beach. So, to help you create the perfect stylish set-up for the rest of your beach days, check out the below essentials!
The Capri Fouta Beach Towels from Serena & Lily (serenaandlily.com, $48), for example, are the perfect weight/size, softness, and absorbency for trips to the beach. The narrow and wide stripes, edged with a hand-knotted fringe, provide the ultimate splash of style.
Everyone needs a colorful beach tote and the Multicolor Stripe Tote Bag from Paper Source (papersource.com, $36.95) is one of a kind— made from recycled and up-cycled fabric. This bag directly and positively impacts the environment, plus it zips at the top so you can rest assured nothing will fall out on the way to the beach!
Of course, you must protect your eyes from the sun, so why not splurge on the Aviator Classic Sunglasses from Ray-Ban (ray-ban.com, $154). These iconic sunglasses come in a variety of colors and are timeless with exceptional quality, performance and comfort.
We all need good back support if we’re sitting on the beach for most of our summer days, and the Tommy Bahama Beach Chair’s give just that (tommybahama.com, $50-$100). These chairs have a bunch of unique features including five adjustable positions, a side pouch with a drink/cell phone holder, folding towel bar and comfortable head pillow plus, padded back straps.
Finally, I love to use my time relaxing on the beach with a good book. Some on my list to read this summer include: The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett, The Guest List by Lucy Foley, The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris and Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. All are available for purchase on Amazon or check your local bookstore for them as well!
