Halloween Crafts For Grown Ups

Before throwing your bottle of Pino Grigio in the recycle bin consider revamping it into a cool Halloween decoration. You can make these adorable Halloween friends out of wine bottles. 

The best way to remove the labels is to soak the bottles in a bucket filled with hot water, a cup of baking powder,  a tablespoon of dish soap, and a cup of white vinegar for 45 minutes. The label should come off with just a bit of scrubbing. 

Materials Needed: 
Wine bottles (clear glass works best)
Acrylic paint
Decoupage medium
Glitter
Sharpie pens
Orange felt
Flower
Ribbon 
Raffia straw
Rubber bands

Scarecrow:
Apply two coats of a light beige paint to the bottle. Then cover with one coat of a sheer gold glitter paint.
Use a black sharpie to make simple face designs. Shapes such as hearts, triangles, and squiggly lines are the easiest to draw. Practice drawing the faces on paper beforehand if need be. 

To make the hat take a rectangular piece of orange felt about 8×10 inches. Fold the longer part up 1 inch and hot glue it. Wrap the felt around the bottle. Secure with glue. Use a rubber band to gather the top of the hat and glue a flower on top. 

To make the hair grab a handful of the raffia straw and use the rubber bands to make pigtails. Glue a small festive ribbon tied into a bow on each side. Hot glue the hair to the inside of the hat. Finish off by placing the hat on top of the wine bottle.

Monster: 
Start by applying two coats of a green paint to the wine bottle then one coat of a green glitter paint, leaving the top of the bottle unpainted.

Apply a black paint to the top of the bottle, making small triangles around for the hair. When dry, paint a coat of clear decoupage on the black hair then sprinkle black glitter on the area. Follow with one more coat of the decoupage medium to seal it.
Use a sharpie to draw in the eyes, nose and mouth

Candy Corn:
Paint white, orange and yellow sections on the bottle from top to bottom. 

When dry add a coat of decoupage to the white area then sprinkle with white glitter. Seal with another coat of decoupage medium. Do the same for the yellow. In the orange section draw the face with a black sharpie.

Your newly decorated wine bottles can be displayed alongside your freshly picked pumpkins and enhanced with a string of battery operated lights placed inside the bottles.
