Realtor Michael Scarito: From continuing the family business to becoming a community leader

For Michael Scarito, real estate isn’t just a profession, it’s a legacy. A lifelong Long Islander with over 33 years of experience, Michael’s career was inspired by his father and built on a foundation of passion, work ethic, and integrity–qualities that can’t be taught in a textbook.

“I actually resisted it at first,” he says. After earning his MBA and leading finance departments at top corporations, Michael found himself traveling often while raising two young daughters. That’s when his father made him an offer he couldn’t refuse–matching his corporate salary for three years if he joined the family business.

That leap of faith sparked a career rooted in relationships, community, and consistency. Team Scarito–now a family-driven powerhouse–operates with full-time commitment and a strong foundation built over decades. “We’re 100% in this,” Michael says

Growing up in a politically active household also shaped Michael’s understanding of how towns and communities function. His mother once served as a Councilwoman for the Town of Smithtown, and his father’s deep ties to the Town of Babylon gave him early insight into the inner workings of local government, development, and property values.

That local expertise–combined with his natural gift for communication and negotiation–makes Michael stand out in a crowded market. “Buyers and sellers must trust you. You’re not selling a product–you’re earning the privilege to guide someone through one of the most important transactions of their life.”

What also sets Team Scarito apart is their hyper-local knowledge and accessibility. “We’ve walked the blocks, sold the homes, know the tax districts and school zones. You can’t Google the history of a property the way we’ve lived it.”

Despite closing over 4,500 homes, Michael still finds joy in every interaction. “I’ve built lifelong friendships with clients. Some I helped 15 years ago are just now ready to sell. That’s the power of trust and consistency.”

Branding is another cornerstone. “We’ve stayed consistent because familiarity matters,” Michael says. “People may not need you now, but if they’ve seen your name for 10 years, you’re who they’ll call when the time comes.”

His philosophy on success is simple: “I’m happy. That’s success to me. I get to do what I love, in a community I care about, with people I trust.”

For first-time buyers or aspiring agents, his advice is just as clear: “It’s not easy, and it’s not instant. Put in the time. Build relationships. Stay consistent. And never forget–it’s a privilege to be trusted with someone’s home.”
